Advanced Letter Grade Calculator

Calculate weighted marks quickly. Review performance clearly across grading scales. Make every score easier to interpret today.

Calculator Input

The calculator uses a responsive grid: three columns on large screens, two on medium screens, and one on mobile devices.

Custom Grade Thresholds

Custom thresholds are used only when the Custom Thresholds option is selected.

Formula Used

The calculator finds each category contribution, adds them, applies extra credit, and then maps the final percentage to a letter grade.

Weighted Contribution = (Category Score × Category Weight) ÷ Total Weight

Base Weighted Total = Sum of all weighted contributions

Final Percentage = Base Weighted Total + Extra Credit

Letter Grade = Grade band matched by final percentage

If the weight total is not 100, the calculator normalizes the scores by dividing each contribution by the actual total weight entered.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does this calculator do?

It converts weighted category scores into a final percentage, letter grade, GPA value, and pass status. It also supports extra credit, custom grading bands, charts, and report downloads.

2. Can the weights add up to something other than 100?

Yes. The calculator normalizes every category using the total weight entered. That means the final result still reflects the intended weighting pattern, even when the total is not exactly 100.

3. What grading systems are included?

You can use a plus and minus scale, a standard A to F scale, a simple classroom scale, or fully custom threshold values for each grade band.

4. How is extra credit handled?

Extra credit is added after the weighted base total is calculated. You can also cap the final score at 100 percent when your grading policy requires a maximum limit.

5. Why is GPA shown with a letter grade?

GPA points give a quick academic interpretation of the letter result. This helps when comparing multiple courses, advising students, or preparing summary reports.

6. What does the chart show?

The chart compares raw category scores with their weighted contributions and highlights the final percentage. This makes it easier to see which areas influenced the overall grade most.

7. Can I use this for schools, colleges, or training centers?

Yes. The structure fits many education settings because you can change names, weights, thresholds, and passing standards without altering the core logic.

8. What can I export after calculation?

You can export a CSV file for spreadsheet analysis and a PDF summary for printing, sharing, or storing student grade reports.
