Formula Used

CTR (%) = (Clicks ÷ Impressions) × 100
Conversion Rate (%) = (Conversions ÷ Clicks) × 100
CPC = Spend ÷ Clicks
ROAS = Revenue ÷ Spend
Target Clicks = Impressions × (Target CTR ÷ 100)
Extra Clicks Needed = Target Clicks − Current Clicks

CTR tells you what percentage of impressions generated clicks. It is one of the clearest indicators of how well your title, ad copy, meta text, and search appearance persuade users to visit.

This tool also estimates missed clicks, potential extra conversions, and possible revenue upside when you move from current CTR to a benchmark or target CTR.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a good click through rate?

A good CTR depends on the channel, keyword intent, position, brand strength, and competition. Branded traffic usually earns higher CTRs than generic traffic. Compare your result against your own history and realistic benchmarks.

2. Why does CTR matter in SEO and paid campaigns?

CTR shows how often people choose your result after seeing it. A stronger CTR usually means your page title, message, and offer better match search intent or audience interest.

3. Can a high CTR still lead to poor results?

Yes. A strong CTR only proves users clicked. If the landing page is weak, slow, or mismatched to intent, conversions and revenue can still remain low.

4. How can I improve CTR?

Improve headlines, title tags, descriptions, calls to action, rich snippet eligibility, and message clarity. Test stronger benefits, numbers, urgency, and tighter keyword alignment with search intent.

5. Does average position affect CTR?

Yes. Higher rankings often receive more clicks because they appear earlier in search results. However, message quality still matters, especially when several results look similar.

6. What is the difference between benchmark CTR and target CTR?

Benchmark CTR is a comparison point from your market, platform, or past averages. Target CTR is the performance level you want to reach through optimization.

7. Why are missed clicks useful?

Missed clicks show the opportunity gap between current performance and a benchmark or target. That gap helps estimate possible traffic, conversions, and revenue growth.

8. Can I use this tool for SEO and ads?

Yes. The CTR formula is the same for organic listings, paid ads, email campaigns, and other channels. Only the benchmark values and optimization tactics differ.
