Slope Ratio = Rise ÷ Run
Slope Percentage = (Rise ÷ Run) × 100
Angle in Degrees = arctan(Rise ÷ Run) × 180 ÷ π
The calculator first converts the slope ratio into decimal form. It then multiplies that decimal by 100. This produces the slope percentage.
Example: if the slope ratio is 1:4, then 1 ÷ 4 = 0.25. Multiply 0.25 by 100. The slope percentage becomes 25%.
Slope percentage shows how much a surface rises vertically over its horizontal distance. A 25% slope means the rise equals 25 units for every 100 units of run.
Divide the first ratio value by the second value. Then multiply the result by 100. For example, 1:5 becomes 1 ÷ 5 = 0.20, or 20%.

A zero run would require division by zero. That is mathematically undefined. Every valid slope calculation needs a nonzero horizontal distance.
Slope ratio compares rise to run directly. Angle describes the incline relative to a horizontal line. Both describe steepness, but they use different units.

Equivalent ratios represent the same slope. If rise and run are both scaled equally, the decimal ratio stays unchanged. Therefore, the slope percentage also remains constant.
