Calculator Inputs

Formula Used

This calculator treats P-score as a weighted academic performance score. It blends exam performance with continuous assessment values.

Raw Exam % = (Obtained Marks / Total Marks) × 100 Adjusted Exam % = ((Obtained Marks + Bonus Marks − Penalty Marks) / Total Marks) × 100 Standardized Exam Score = 50 + 10 × ((Adjusted Exam % − Class Mean) / Class Standard Deviation) Final P-Score = (Exam Value × Exam Weight + Assignment × Assignment Weight + Attendance × Attendance Weight + Participation × Participation Weight) ÷ 100

When auto-normalize is enabled, all entered weights are proportionally scaled so they behave like a 100% total.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does this P-score represent?

It represents a weighted academic performance score. The calculator combines exam, assignment, attendance, and participation values into one final result.

2. When should I use standardized mode?

Use standardized mode when you want to compare a student against class performance. It converts the exam result into a scaled score using the class mean and standard deviation.

3. Why is auto-normalize useful?

It rescales your entered weights when they do not total 100. This helps you avoid manual corrections and still get a valid weighted P-score.

4. Can bonus and penalty values change the exam result?

Yes. Bonus marks raise the exam value, while penalty marks reduce it. The adjusted exam percent is used in the final score.

5. What happens if scores exceed 100?

When score capping is enabled, values are limited to the 0 to 100 range. Disable it if your institution allows extra credit above 100.

6. How is the letter grade assigned?

The calculator compares the final P-score with your custom grade thresholds. If the score falls below the D threshold, the grade becomes F.

7. What does estimated percentile mean?

It estimates where the student stands within a normal class distribution. This value appears only in standardized mode because it depends on the z-score.

8. Can I save the calculation result?

Yes. Use the CSV button for spreadsheet records and the PDF button for a printable report of the calculated result and graph.
