Reapplication Interval Calculator

Model interval shifts from weather, wear, thickness. Compare scenarios, export reports, and plan maintenance dates. See results instantly with practical charts and jobsite guidance.

Calculator inputs

The page uses a single-column flow overall. The calculator uses three columns on large screens, two on smaller screens, and one on mobile.

Formula used

Adjusted Reapplication Interval (days) = Base Interval (days) × Product Factor × Surface Factor × Exposure Factor × Traffic Factor × Temperature Factor × Humidity Factor × Wind Factor × Thickness Factor × Safety Buffer Factor

Temperature Factor = clamp(1 − 0.008 × max(T − 25, 0) − 0.004 × max(10 − T, 0), 0.70, 1.10)

Humidity Factor = clamp(1 − 0.003 × max(RH − 60, 0), 0.75, 1.05)

Wind Factor = clamp(1 − 0.0025 × max(W − 10, 0), 0.80, 1.05)

Thickness Factor = clamp(Applied Thickness ÷ Recommended Thickness, 0.70, 1.35)

Safety Buffer Factor = clamp(1 − Buffer ÷ 100, 0.50, 1.00)

This model is intended for planning and comparison. Product data sheets, project specifications, inspections, and manufacturer instructions should always take priority over generalized estimates.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the project name so exports are easier to track later.
  2. Select the product, surface, exposure, and wear level that best match the job.
  3. Type the base interval from your product literature or maintenance plan.
  4. Enter site weather values, applied thickness, and recommended thickness.
  5. Add a safety buffer if you want a more conservative schedule.
  6. Provide the last application date to estimate the next due date automatically.
  7. Press Calculate interval to show the result above the form.
  8. Use the CSV and PDF buttons to save the output for reports or handover records.

FAQs

1. What does this calculator estimate?

It estimates when a coating, sealant, or membrane may need reapplication after adjusting the base interval for surface, exposure, wear, weather, thickness, and safety margin.

2. Is the result a replacement for manufacturer guidance?

No. It is a planning tool. Always follow product literature, project specifications, inspection records, and field conditions when making final maintenance decisions.

3. Why does higher temperature lower the interval?

Higher temperature can accelerate aging, drying stress, and UV-related degradation on exposed construction materials. The calculator uses a reduction factor to reflect faster performance loss.

4. Why is thickness included?

Applied thickness matters because underbuilt layers often wear out sooner, while well-built layers can last longer. The tool compares applied thickness against recommended thickness.

5. What is the safety buffer for?

A safety buffer intentionally shortens the recommended interval. It is useful when access is difficult, failure risk is high, or planned shutdown windows are limited.

6. Can I use months as the base interval?

Yes. The calculator accepts hours, days, weeks, and months. Internally, it converts everything to days before applying the adjustment factors.

7. What does conservative interval mean?

The conservative interval is 10 percent below the calculated recommendation. It helps teams plan earlier inspections or earlier reapplication when reliability matters more than maximum life.

8. Can I save the results?

Yes. After calculation, use the CSV button for spreadsheet-friendly output and the PDF button for report-friendly output with a summary table and chart image.
