1) Gross ceiling area
Gross Area = Length × Width × Number of Rooms

2) Net ceiling area
Net Area = Gross Area − Deductions Area

3) Adjusted installation area
Adjusted Area = Net Area × (1 + Waste % ÷ 100)

4) Board quantity
Board Count = Ceiling(Adjusted Area ÷ Single Board Area)

5) Main channel length
Main Runs Per Room = Floor(Room Width ÷ Main Spacing) + 1
Main Length = Main Runs × Room Length × Rooms × (1 + Framing Waste % ÷ 100)

6) Cross channel length
Cross Runs Per Room = Floor(Room Length ÷ Cross Spacing) + 1
Cross Length = Cross Runs × Room Width × Rooms × (1 + Framing Waste % ÷ 100)

7) Perimeter angle length
Perimeter Length = 2 × (Length + Width) × Rooms × (1 + Perimeter Extra % ÷ 100)

8) Hangers, screws, and compound
Hangers = Main Runs × (Floor(Room Length ÷ Hanger Spacing) + 1) × Rooms

2) Does the calculator include wastage?

Yes. The waste percentage increases the net installation area before board, screw, and compound quantities are calculated. This helps account for cuts, breakage, and site handling losses.

3) Can I use feet instead of meters?

4) Are the framing quantities exact site takeoffs?

5) Why is board count rounded up?

Boards are purchased as whole pieces. Even if the computed area needs a fraction of a board, procurement normally requires rounding up to the next full board.

6) What should I enter for deductions area?

Enter the total ceiling area that should not receive gypsum board. Examples include open voids, skylight cutouts, service shafts, or other excluded sections.

7) How is labor cost calculated?

Labor cost equals net ceiling area multiplied by the labor rate you enter. This keeps labor tied to actual installed area rather than the waste-adjusted procurement area.

8) Should I still verify results with supplier data?

Yes. Always check board sizes, channel spacing limits, screw schedules, and compound coverage against project drawings, local practice, and manufacturer installation recommendations.
